Siding & Exterior Trim
Siding and trim that keep water out and look right up close.
Siding and trim are your home’s raincoat. Small gaps and soft spots let water in where you can’t see it, and the repair gets bigger the longer it waits.
We find where the damage actually starts and stops, replace what needs replacing, and leave the sound material in place. Our trade partners match and finish the repair so it doesn’t look patched.
When it’s time
- Soft, swollen or rotting boards, especially near the ground or under windows.
- Cracked, split or missing pieces of siding or trim.
- Gaps at corners and joints where caulk has failed.
- Paint that peels in the same spots again and again.
When you don’t: Peeling paint on sound wood is a paint job, not a siding job. We’ll press on the boards and tell you which one you have.
How we do it
Probe and photograph suspect areas so you see exactly where the rot stops.
Replace only the damaged boards when the rest is sound.
Match profile, reveal and texture so repairs blend in.
Flash, prime and seal every cut end before paint.
Good to know
Fiber cement
Fiber cement holds up to sun, moisture and insects, and it holds paint well. It is heavier and more labor-intensive to install than wood or vinyl, but it lasts a long time.
Wood and engineered wood
Real wood looks great and repairs easily but needs regular paint and caulk. Engineered wood resists rot better than natural wood at a lower cost than fiber cement.
Matching older siding
Some older profiles are no longer made. When an exact match isn’t possible, we’ll show you the closest options and where a transition would be least visible.
What hail and wind do
Hail cracks and chips siding, leaves marks consistent with hail impact on painted trim, and splits brittle boards. Wind can tear loose pieces and drive rain behind them. If storm damage is found, it may be covered depending on your policy. Your insurance company makes that decision.
Questions
Can you replace only the damaged siding?
Yes, as long as the surrounding siding is sound and we can match the profile. Partial replacement is common for rot near the ground or around windows. When a match isn’t available or the damage is widespread, we’ll show you the photos and explain why a larger section might make sense.
How do I know if my trim is rotting?
Press on it with a screwdriver. Sound wood resists; rotting wood feels soft or crumbles. Look closely at bottoms of door frames, window sills and corner boards, where water sits longest. We check all of these during the walkthrough and photograph anything suspect.
Will new siding need to be painted?
Usually, yes. Most fiber cement and wood siding is primed and needs finish paint to match the house. Some fiber cement comes prefinished from the factory in set colors. We’ll include paint in your written scope so the repair looks complete.
