Windows & Screens
From a torn screen to a full window replacement, scoped honestly.
Windows and screens take more abuse than most people realize — Texas sun, pets, kids, lawn equipment and, every so often, a hailstorm. Most problems are smaller than they look, and some are bigger than they look.
We check every opening, document what we find, and recommend the fix that actually matches the problem. Our trade partners handle everything from rescreening to full window replacement.
When it’s time
- Screens are torn, bent, or the frames no longer sit tight in the opening.
- Fog or moisture between the panes of a double-pane window.
- Drafts, sticking sashes, or locks that no longer close.
- Cracked glass or soft, rotting wood around the frame.
When you don’t: A foggy pane or a torn screen rarely means the whole window has to go. Often one sash, one glass unit or one screen is all that needs replacing.
How we do it
Check every window and screen, not just the one you called about.
Photograph frames, glass, seals and screens with plain-English notes.
Recommend the smallest fix that solves the problem — screen, glass unit or full window.
Match existing frames and screen styles so repairs don’t stand out.
Good to know
Glass unit vs. full window
If the frame is sound, replacing only the insulated glass unit fixes fogging for far less than a new window. If the frame is warped or rotting, a full replacement makes more sense.
Vinyl, fiberglass or aluminum
Vinyl is affordable and efficient. Fiberglass is stiffer and handles Texas heat with less expansion. Aluminum is slim and strong but conducts heat unless it has a thermal break.
Low-E glass
Low-E coatings reflect a large share of solar heat, which matters on west- and south-facing windows in Central Texas summers.
What hail and wind do
Hail shreds window screens, dents screen frames and can crack glass or damage the window frame itself. Damage consistent with hail impact on screens is often easy to miss from the ground, so we check every one. If storm damage is found, it may be covered depending on your policy. Your insurance company makes that decision.
Questions
Can you replace just the screens?
Yes. We rescreen existing frames when they’re straight and solid, and build new frames to size when they’re bent. Screen-only work is common after hail, and it’s usually quick once the measurements are taken. We match the frame color and mesh so new screens look like the rest of the house.
Why is there fog between my window panes?
The seal between the two panes has failed, letting moist air inside the insulated glass unit. The window still works, but it insulates less and the fog won’t clean off. If the frame is in good shape, replacing just the glass unit fixes it without replacing the whole window.
How long does window replacement take?
Most homes take one to two days on site once the windows arrive. Custom-sized windows have to be ordered, which takes several weeks depending on the manufacturer. We give you a realistic timeline in your written scope and photo updates while our crews work.
